The Air Max 1 holds a special place in the history of the Nike label, being the first shoe to make its Air cushioning pods visible through the midsole. This was the genius idea of none other than Tinker Hatfield, which came about when the now-lauded designer was on a trip to Paris and came across the inside-out design of the Centre Pompidou. The rest, as they say, is history.
No stranger to digging through the archives for inspiration, Nike is now painting the shoe in a special do-up – straight from the mind of the man who designed it. The Nike Air Max 1 ’86 OG ‘Lost Sketch’ comes from a drawing in a notebook belonging to Hatfield. Uppers of blue leather sit atop that famed Safari detailing, while deep blue suede Swooshing and a mesh toe box are joined by a midsole which is made to look just the right amount of aged. Visible Air pods, branded touches, and a grippy rubber outsole round off this masterpiece.
The draw for the Nike Air Max 1 ’86 OG ‘Lost Sketch’ opens 10.06.2023 and closes 15.06.2023. The shoe comes in Men’s and Women’s sizes, priced at £145. Follow the links below to sign up to size?access for better chances of winning draws. Good luck!
