Originally hailing from the ‘70s and revived in adidas Originals’ 2020 City Series, the Amsterdam takes a well-earned place amongst the classics. Now for 2024, we present a new take on the Amsterdam coming as part of the latest instalment of ?exclusive Anthology series. Split into four chapters, Part 1 covers the first two – travel and architecture – both of which this vibrant city is famed for.
Travel is unique in Amsterdam, with many taking to the waterways to get around. This is represented in an all-blue look with watery blue suede washing across the entire upper. A slight contrast of blue features on the serrated leather 3-Stripes and heel tab, giving the feel of water meeting sky. Underneath, a gum rubber sole anchors the design, while gold foil Amsterdam branding signs it off.
The next chapter is architecture, alongside the canal are charming canal houses, which can be seen in all their glory as you cruise the water. Many of these ornate facades are made up of browns, oranges, creams and black – and this is where the next shoe comes in. Buttery orange suede covers the T-toe design, accompanied by soft brown leather accents and branding on the crinkled tongue. Below deck, a slightly darker gum rubber sole adds traction here, complementing the warm colours of the design.
Bespoke illustrated footbeds have been included with each design, to represent the inspiration behind the chapters. Graphics of the city’s transportation and buildings have been given the Trefoil treatment and we can’t wait for you to see it.
